An award-winning choreographer and noted dance teacher, Carol Anderson has worked in numerous professional, educational, and community situations across Canada. One of the founding members of Dancemakers, she started her performing career in 1970 with pioneer Judy Jarvis’ first company. An avid dance writer, she has chronicled Canadian dance and dancers since the late 1980s. An Emerita of the Department of Dance at York University (Toronto), Anderson continues to move, choreograph, teach, and write, and actively promotes mindful motion for older movers. Her current creative investigations include site-specifc dance/spoken word installations in outdoor sites, gardens and galleries. Carol is one of a team initiating Flight: Prince Edward County’s Festival of Contemporary Dance. Inaugural performances will take place in August, 2021.
