Barbara Kaneratonni Diabo (she/her) is Kanien’keha:ka (Mohawk)/mixed heritage from Kahnawake. She now lives in Tiohtià:ke/Montreal. A celebrated choreographer and dancer for over 30 years, she was awarded the prestigious Prix de la Danse de Montreal in the category of Interprète (dancer) in 2021. Barbara specializes in creating works that highlight Indigenous themes, stories, and perspectives. She takes great pride in sharing her culture. Her work has been seen across Canada and internationally. Barbara is also actively involved with various organizations to help educate, create safe spaces, and support Indigenous artists across Canada. These include La Danse sur les routes du Québec and Indigenous Performing Arts Alliance. Her goals are to inspire others, encourage cultural pride, uplift the spirit, educate and increase communication.
