Creator, Sara does a Solo

Sara Porter is a choreographer, writer, performer and teacher. As a member of the movement-based group, the Intergalactic Arts Collective, she works out of a studio in the cultural hub of Artscape Youngplace in downtown Toronto. She is an Associate Artist at pounds per square inch performance where she collaborates with Artistic Director Gerry Trentham to explore new modes of performance in a trans-disciplinary aesthetic.

Ms. Porter has performed her work in Canada, Europe and US, including HERE Theatre (New York City), Espace Tangente (Montreal), the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Centre for Contemporary Arts (Glasgow), Teatro Pradillo (Madrid), Buddies in Bad Times Theatre (Toronto), and Dusk Dances (Ottawa and Toronto). Originally from Nova Scotia, she was based in Montreal (1990-95) and Edinburgh (1995-98) before settling in Toronto, where she now lives and works.

After 25 years writing on the works and lives of other artists, Ms. Porter turns her pen on herself to present Sara does a Solo, a collision of dance, storytelling, poetry, stand-up, singing and visual design in an inter-play of fact and fiction, memoir and fantasy, confession and caricature.
