Sara Porter is a multi-faceted artist, performer, dancer, writer and teacher with a distinctive voice and a broad palette. Celebrated for her “daring imagination” (Toronto Star) and for being “wickedly funny” (Dance International), Sara’s unique blend of contemporary dance, clown, memoir and theatre coalesced in 2014 in her one-woman show – Sara does a Solo.

The production continues to tour festivals and theatres in US and Canada to wide acclaim. Sara has created over twenty-five multi-disciplinary dance and performance works since 1990. Her writing is published in books and magazines in Canada and the UK and she is a popular teacher of theory and practice in college and university dance programs. Originally from Nova Scotia, Sara trained and worked in Montreal and the UK, before settling in Toronto in 1998.

“She is an unforgettable being on stage, and this work reveals the intelligent mechanisms that allow her such range and possibility.” –
